Blogging has grown rapidly from being a writer’s obsession to a common man’s way of expressing himself to the world. The last decade saw the rise of many of the Internet’s top blogging plaforms – WordPress, Blogspot and Tumblr, just to name a few. Many bloggers around the world have achieved huge success while regularly writing great content on their desired subjects directly from the comfort of their home. Many have even been able to earn a highly respectable six-figure income online. And when I say many, I’m not talking about just a few of them, I’m talking about thousands or perhaps lacs of bloggers.
While the above stats may have painted a rosy picture in your minds, the stark reality is that less than 10% of the bloggers are able to sustain themselves online. Surprised, eh? Well, the main reason behind it is that blogging requires a lot of patience and persistence, to go along with hard work and dedication. And when we talk about patience, most people are unable to get over the initial disappointment of not being able to achieve success within a short period of time, say 2-3 months. The motivation simply starts fading away, and ultimately most of them end up abandoning their blogs.
How to Stay Focused While Blogging:
As I said earlier, the golden rule you should always remember while blogging is that even though you may be working hard, results might not appear for a long period of time. You should not lose hope even if things don’t seem to be going in the right direction. Just keep working hard and eventually you will be successful, even though it may take a few months or perhaps even a couple of years. So here are a few ways to always keep yourself focused while blogging:
1. Forget About The Results
Before you start, you should forget about the results. Why? Because unrealistic expectations and inadequate results both act as a major deterrent. If you focus on the results straight away, there is a high probability you will feel disappointed when you are unable to meet your expectations. So the main thing is to simply keep working, without letting the statistics part into your mind.
2. Motivate Yourself
Okay there are times everyone wants to slack off and stop working. But the difference between winners and losers is that winners always keep working on their goals no matter how badly they want to stop working and on the other hand, losers just look for excuses to stop working. Motivate yourself by thinking about all the great things you could achieve if you work hard consistently over a period of time. Once you motivate yourself and get into the habit of working despite not wanting to work, you will find it much more easier to focus on your blogging activities.
3. Plan Your Schedule
The third important task before you start blogging is to plan your day in advance. Just write down on a piece of paper or on your computer’s notebook about all the tasks you want finished before the end of the day. They could include link building, commenting, networking, writing content, researching etc. This helps in your mind being focussed and once you are clear in your head, doing things becomes a lot easier.
