So are you facing problems with your WiFi signal. Are you looking for ways to increase the signal strength of that wireless router in your home.
Very often when we move from one location to other we may see notification icon for the weak signal of WiFi reception in window, which means there is need to improve the access point or router to receive the quality Wi-Fi reception. There are many ways to boost the signals. Boosting your WiFi signal will also help you get better internet and download speed as well.

So What are the factors Affecting my WiFi Signal

There are various factors that affect the signal strength of your WiFi :

Position of your wireless router, modem router, or access point :

This is perhaps the first thing that you should take into account while setting up a WiFi. Whenever possible, try to place your wireless router, wireless modem router, or wireless access point (WAP) in a central location in your home. If the router or access point is against an outside wall of your home, the signal will be weak on the other side of your home.If you have a multistorey house and plan to use your WiFi on say your first floor then the best place to place the router shall be high on a shelf in the room .

Reduce WiFi interference

Be sure there is no metal object or mirror between the router and PC, laptops or video console. A metal object or mirror deplete the signals, similarly any electronic device ranging 2.4Ghz may also cause interference in communication of router resulting in decreased performance of connection.

Replacing your router’s antenna Or Boost Your Signal with Tinfoil:

Most of the antenna’s provided with the WiFi routers are omnidirectional which means that they continuously transmit signal in all direction thus if your router’s antenna is removable, you can upgrade to a high-gain antenna that focuses the wireless signals in only one direction.
Or you can use a little tinfoil shaped into a “windsurfers” parabola to increase your signal strength several decibel.

Boost Signal with a Repeater or with a Bridge

Wireless-Repeater
A Wireless repeaters extends your wireless network range . Just place the wireless repeater halfway between your wireless router, modem router, or access point and your computer, and you can get an instant boost to your wireless signal strength. If you are tight on your budget and don’t wanna spend on a new repeater you can turn your wifi router into a repeater. Lifehacker has a very good DIY article on how to turn your wifi router into a repeater .

Changing your wireless router’s channel

Try changing your wireless router’s channel through your router’s configuration page to see if your signal strength improves. You don’t need to change your computer’s configuration, because it can automatically detect the new channel. Sometimes one wireless channel is clearer than others.
Here is the default router configuration page address:

Upgrade 802.11a, 802.11b, and 802.11g devices to 802.11n

Wireless-N (802.11n) is  twice as fast and it has better range and stability when compared to Wireless-G (802.11g). Wireless-N is backward-compatible with 802.11a, 802.11b, and 802.11g, so you can still use any existing wireless equipment that you have.
These methods are sure to help you improve your WiFi signal reception.
