Is Apple going to debut a 4G iPhone next month?
That’s the question everyone has been asking since the rumor has spread that the next version of Apple’s iPhone will support LTE, the fast 4G wireless technology . The gadgets blog Engadget.com has reported about the evidences that a device was being tested by carriers which shows some 4G LTE equipment that was recently installed in a major Apple store — by AT&T. The source through which the Engadget claims to have received the information also claims that AT&T has already installed some hardware and says it may support only the 700MHz and AWS bands.
Recently Forbes also posted about Apple posting job advertisements on its LinkedIn Profile for LTE experts which also sparks the rumors that Apple is working on its 4G device. The LinkedIn ad, which was either posted on August 17 or 18, says Apple is seeking field test engineers with expertise in LTE.
Apple is expected to announce the new iPhone next month, in September, since it missed the WWDC 11. Rumours are hot that this time it may be the first 4G device from the Apple. However there are also speculations that Apple is planning to wait for another one year before jumping into 4G market. If that is true then that means that the current version will only have few minor hardware upgrades compared to Apple iPhone 4.
