Search engine giant Google has decided to kill its micro-blogging tool Buzz in order to focus on its much talked about project Google Plus. The company made the announcement in its Blog that it would be soon shutting down Google Buzz. The giant has already shutdown Google Labs , and replaced a set of other services like Like.com and boutiques.com with Google Product Search.
Google has promised that the existing content on Buzz will still remain viewable on a user’s Google Profile and users can download them from Google Takeout.
Google started Buzz in the year 2010 and got a very good start. it even went on to add it as a Google’s mobile offering on Android phones and the iPhone. But then Google was criticized over it privacy policy and it forced the search engine giant to pay $8.5 million, to settle a class-action suit.
While Google Plus which was unveiled late in the month of June has already crossed the mark of 40 million users as per the Google CEO Larry Page. The service which was started as a limited number of users, soon gained a big hype over internet and the users were soon give option to send invites and in September they opened it for everyone to join it.
Google has also announced its plan to Shut down a plethora of other services like Code Search, and shut down its University Research Program for Google Search, which provided API access to its search results for academic researchers, and remove the social feature on iGoogle the same day, by January 15. And also it will come up with new ones like Jakiu, a twitter like service which allowed its users to post instant updates about their whereabouts and other things , it was bought by Google in October 2007 and since then Google has been planning to Launch Jaiku
