India’s First Windows Mango Smartphone Launched by Samsung

Samsung, which is in the limelight these days thanks to a series of popular Android based Smartphones, has added another feather to its cap by launching India’s first Microsoft Windows Phone 7 a.k.a. Mango smartphone, along with a couple of other touchscreen devices.

The three smartphones launched by Samsung include Samsung Omnia W, Wave III and a low-cost Android phone, Samsung Galaxy Y. Out of the three, Samsung Omnia W is the one that boasts of the latest Mango operating system, while Wave III is the first Samsung device based on its latest Bada 2.0 OS.
Omnia W will sport a 3.7-inch Super AMOLED display, a 1.4 GHz single core processor, a 5-megapixel camera with 720p recording and integrated 14.4Mbps HSPA+ connectivity. The USP of the Mango OS is that it lays out applications in Mosaic ‘Live Tiles’ which flow and move on the screen. The device is priced at Rs. 19,900.
The Wave III, powered by Bada 2.0 OS boasts a 4-inch SuperAMOLED display, a 1.4GHz processor, HSPA+ connectivity, Wi-Fi Direct and Voice recognition, while the Samsung Galaxy Y runs on Android 2.3 Gingerbread OS & is powered by a 832MHz processor. It comes with a 3-inch display, 2MP camera, 160MB internal memory and up to 32GB expandable memory via microSD.
Samsung Galaxy Y, priced at Rs. 7830 will start selling from this week while Samsung Wave 3 and Omnia W will be available from early November onwards.
