ITG xpPhone was launched in November last year but it was not very successful. Nevertheless ITG has decided to launch the successor to the phone, ITG xpPhone 2 early next year.
In terms of hardware & specs, xpPhone 2 seems really good. It has got a powerful 1.6GHz Intel Atom Z530 processor, 2GB of RAM and 112GB of SSD storage, which is much more than offered by any other smartphone. It features a 4.3 inch touchscreen display and is compatible with both Windows 7 and Windows 8 (though it will have Windows 8 on board).
For a smartphone that boasts such excellent specs, xpPhone 2 has impressive battery life as well. It claims to provide 18.5 hours of talk time on a single charge and almost 46 days of standby.
The main improvement in xpPhone 2 as compared to xpPhone is that it is considerably slimmer than its predecessor. While xpPhone had dimensions of 175 × 84 × 25.5mm which made it appear bulky, xpPhone 2 has smaller dimensions – 140mm x 73mm x 17.5mm and looks much thinner.
Though the price has not yet officially been announced, the handset is expected to be launched in January 2012.
