Amazon
has added yet another feather in its cap by introducing the Kindle
Owners Lending Library Service which will allow Kindle owners to borrow one e-book a month completely free of charge with a lending period of 14 days.
But here’s the catch – only Kindle users with an Amazon prime membership are eligible for this program. They can choose from more than 5,000 titles, including more than 100 current and former New York Times Bestsellers from various genres such as fiction, non-fiction and many more.
The Kindle Owners Lending Library program will work on any Kindle device, including the upcoming Kindle Fire which is going to be launched on November 15. All the lending library titles will be designated with a small Prime logo to distinguish them from other e-books.
To borrow an e-book, simply visit the Kindle store on your device and click on ‘See all categories‘ to get a list of all titles in the Kindle Owners Lending Library. After choosing a book, tap the ‘Borrow for Free‘ option to start downloading the e-book.
When a user highlights or make notes or adds bookmarks in a borrowed book, they will be saved and can be viewed whenever the user decides to purchase the book or borrows the same book again. When a user wants to borrow a new book, he/she will have to return the borrowed book from their Kindle and download the new one.
