Receiving unwanted calls can be really annoying, especially if we are
working on something important. So how about blocking them and getting
rid of all such calls. However blocking a number is not as easy as it
sounds. Since iPhone doesn’t have an in-built feature that allows you to
block incoming calls, you will have to jailbreak your device to install an application called iBlacklist that will enable you to block incoming calls and text messages.
Jailbreaking
an iPhone is very easy since there are many simple methods available
for doing so. Here are some elementary steps to jailbreak your device:
- Open www.jailbreakme.com on your iPhone
- Slide the “slide to jailbreak” screen and wait for the application to install
- A new app called “Cydia” will be installed on your device
- Your iPhone is jailbroken now
Once you have added the number, look for the row with a red call icon on the configuration page. Set it to “On” by swiping your finger across it. If you want to block text messages (and MMS) from this number as well, set the switch next to the red message symbol to “On”.
By tapping on the row marked “Action to be performed”, you can select what action needs to be taken with the number you have blocked. For example, you can send the call from the blocked number directly to voice mail or receive a busy signal or block the call without your phone ringing or automatically hang up on the call. After you have chosen your preference, click the blue button to add the number/contact to your blacklist. Your preferences will be saved and any incoming calls (and SMS) from the number will be successfully blocked.
