Marilyn Monroe, Elvis Presley Team Up for ‘Retro World’ Game

The two legends of Hollywood – Marilyn Monroe and Elvis Presley, both long dead but forever alive in the hearts of their fans, may get to relive their lives in an online game aimed at people over 40.

The game, named “Retro World,” will soon launch on Facebook on November 8 before expanding to Google+ and tablet devices later on. Both Elvis and Marilyn will play characters in the numerous free-to-play point-and-click adventure games of Retro World.
“We think the new generation of gamers is the 40-plus crowd, and they don’t want games that look like Saturday morning cartoons. They want something that appeals to them visually, and has actual gameplay at the core. Story-driven adventure games helped advance the game industry forward 20 years ago, and we believe what is old is new again. More people over 40 get on Facebook and more people under 40 get older. There is a ton of opportunity in this market”, said Gene Mauro, president of Entertainment Games.
Apart from a variety of adventure games, players can buy, customize and race classic cars and also accompany their friends in arcade-style mini-games like Mahjong. Since all the games run on the Heyday platform, developers are allowed to take licensed images from Spiegel, Corbis and Getty and create interactive experiences in decades ranging from the 1950s to the 1980s.
Though “Retro World” will be released as a free game, micro-transactions as well as brand-sponsored virtual items will be there to provide revenue for the game developers.
