With Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich source code having being made available for download, you might want to upgrade to the latest version of Android. In this tutorial we will show you exactly how you can install ICS on your Samsung Galaxy S2 smartphone.
Since the build is still in Alpha stage, some of the features like Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, Camera etc. might not work. It’s up to you whether you want to install it for testing purposes or wait for the more stable beta release. Anyway, here are the steps for installing ICS on Galaxy S2:
1. Download the ICS file to your computer from the link below:
2. Connect your phone to the computer via USB and transfer the file to the root of the storage media of your device.
3. Switch off your device after the transferring of the file is complete.
4. Next you need to boot into the ClockworkMod Recovery. In order to do that, holdHome + Power + Volume Up buttons simultaneously until the main menu appears on the screen.
5. Scroll down to mounts and storage, followed by format/system. Format the data and cache by tapping on format/data and /cache.
6. Navigate back to the menu and tap on wipe data/factory reset.
7. In order to flash ICS to your device, select “install zip from sdcard” in the main menu, followed by “choose zip from sdcard” and then enter the name of the ICS fileyou downloaded in the first step.
